You might also enjoy &quot;An Agricultural Testament&quot; by Sir Albert Howard. It&#039;s an old book (mid-40s), but it set the stage for many of the &quot;organic&quot; co-ops or &quot;hippie&quot; communes throughout the US. I bet the people you&#039;re staying with have heard about it.
